After 2 years of covid and non travel, we can definitely see that people are starting to explore again as countries start to open up slowly. We thought now was the perfect time to get back into writing about our adventures and hopefully inspire you to visit some of the places we love.
We visited Copenhagen well before the pandemic but unfortunately never got around to writing about our time there due to busy work schedules. Denmark was our 14th country that we have visited together and we decided that Copenhagen was the perfect place to get our first experience of this beautiful country.
Where we stayed:
We stayed in a beautiful hotel called Mannon Les Suites. The hotel is located in the city centre and has an amazing swimming pool that most bedrooms overlook. The room was very cosy and comfortable. We were visiting Copenhagen in the spring time so still slightly chilly during our visit weather wise and the hotel was the perfect place to stay.

What we did:
While there are plenty more sights to see in Copenhagen, I have listed the places we visited on our short weekend break below.
Nyhavn
Nyhavn is honestly one of the most beautiful areas of a city I have been in. Arguably the most famous place you think of when you imagine Copenhagen, the area is such an amazing place to just walk around and take hundreds of photos. There are cute spots to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. This is definitely a must visit when you are in the city.

The Little Mermaid
Many people point out that the statue of the Little Mermaid is small and disappointing however the walk down along the sea front to see the statue is beautiful. When we got to the statue it was covered in graffiti which is unfortunate but in the end I was still happy that I made the trip down as it’s such an iconic sight and just something you have to tick off when in the city.
Suensongade
Have you ever seen the film the Danish girl? Well this particular street is featured in the movie and is instantly recognisable by the rows of brightly coloured orange buildings. Even if you have not seen the movie, I would still recommend checking it out, the architecture is beautiful and it is a very picturesque spot.

Kastellet Fort
We came across Kastellet Fort on our way back from checking out the Little Mermaid. The fortress is in the shape of a star and is honestly just a nice place to walk around. Another very picturesque place in Copenhagen with the bright red barracks dotted around.

Copenhagen is just the perfect place to explore. The scandic architecture is beautiful and there are plenty of places and streets that are picture perfect.

Our favourite place we ate:
For us Gorms was our favourite place we ate during our visit. We are both pizza lovers and really enjoyed the food there and the atmosphere. They have a few locations dotted around the city. We ate in the Nyhavn location and the food was just delicious.

Unfortunately we were only in Copenhagen for a weekend and would definitely have liked to spend more time there. It is however the perfect city for a weekend break if that’s the only time you can go. We did everything we wanted to do during our visit and would definitely recommend it for your first visit to Denmark.
Happy Travels,
Nicole
